7 Things ‘Only’ Girls with Guy Best Friends Understand

when girl is the best friend

Some girls connect with other girls, but some just don’t. And that is fine. Having guy best friends is in many ways different than having female friends. Having a friendship with the opposite sex can be less hassle because guys are not such drama queens.

Although each person and their relationships with their best friend are unique, some common things are perceived about a girl having a male best friend. Pretty often, these friendships are misunderstood.

Here are 7 things that only girls with guy best friend will understand:

1. Everybody thinks that there is something romantic between the two of you

You spend a lot of time with your best friend and talk to them about all your life struggles and darkest thoughts. A best friend is someone, who knows you better than others. This deep connection can look like something more to others. So having a guy best friend means that you have to explain to your other friends all the time that no, you are not dating.

2. You cannot help but think maybe there is something more going on

Because you are connected with each other on such a deep level, there might grow some feelings. You find yourself wondering from time to time that maybe you do have feelings for your bestie. You also cannot stop thinking about whether he is in love with you.

3. You are always explaining girl things

It is said that girls and guys are from different planets. We don’t know if that is true, but it is right that we do some things differently. So your guy best friend turns to you every time he has a question about the females. Whether he has questions about periods, mood swings, tampons or makeup, he always turns to you for help.

4. They forget that you are a girl

Your male best friend might start to feel a little too comfortable around you. He tells you everything without a filter, even the things you wish you didn’t know. He takes you as one of the guys and tends to forget that you indeed are a girl.

5. You feel unhappy when he gets a girlfriend

Of course, you want, him to be happy, but you also like his attention. When a new girl comes to his life and starts being more important, you feel jealous. You want to have his time and focus. You cannot stand when he only talks about her and makes her the priority. You try to hide your anger because you know that you are not entitled to feel that way.

6. No one is ever good enough for him

You think that no girl is good enough for him and you start pointing out little mistakes in the poor girl. You know, that you are too judgmental, but you just cannot help yourself. You want to be the most important girl in your best friend’s life. You act all protective, and he acts the same way when you meet someone. You just have very high standards for each other.

7. He does not have a filter

You trust each other completely, which means he can be the most real and honest with you. He tells you everything that is on his mind and sometimes he might be even too frank with you. Do not forget, that he has your best interest in mind, so if he tells you something you do not want to hear, it does not mean that you should not hear him out.

Having a male bestie is an entirely different experience than having a female best friend. It has its pros and cons, but the truth is, no one else understands your friendship, like you two. And others’ opinions do not matter. If it works for you, then enjoy it while it lasts!
