8 Gifts That Are Too Risky to Buy for Women on Valentine’s Day

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, everyone is getting ready to buy gifts for their loved one.

But how do you go about picking out the perfect gift for your woman? Do you go with the standard card, chocolates, and flowers? Or do you do something a little different for her?

Here are eight things you should cross off your list immediately as ideas for your woman. Trust me; she will be grateful you did not buy any of these things for her.

#1: Perfumes

Perfume is a nice gift because it’s something every woman loves, right?

Well, not really.

The problem with perfume is that it’s very personal. Everyone’s scent preference varies, so unless you know the exact perfume your girl loves and wears, stay far away. The last thing you want to do is offend her with that God-awful scent you got her.

#2: Clothes (Without Receipt)

Buying your woman clothing is always a nice gesture, but it can be tricky. Unlike men’s clothing, women’s clothing sizes vary from brand to brand. So even if you know she will love that dress you are looking to buy her, make sure to grab a gift receipt because she will be very disappointed if she cannot exchange it for the right size/color.

#3: Pets

Everyone loves the videos of people being surprised with animals, but this one is something you should be 100% certain about before buying. Just because she likes dogs doesn’t necessarily mean she currently wants the responsibility of owning one. If you are sure you want to get a pet, it is advisable to get her to pick one herself.

Do not just bring one home.

#4: Kitchen Utensils

I know you think that your girl will be super excited to get that new kitchen gadget, but I promise you she will be less than excited when you get her something she doesn’t need for the kitchen. Unless she asked you for a specific, hard-to-find kitchen gadget, you should probably pass on kitchen stuff. You don’t want to send her the message that she belongs in the kitchen.

#5: Stuffed Animals

While stuffed animals are a super favorite gift during Valentine’s Day, you should probably keep away from all things fluffy and stuff. After all, she has nowhere to put it but has to keep it since you gave it to her.

Besides, how old are you?

#6: Gift Cards

This one is a little more complicated, but in general, it’s not a good idea to get your girl a gift card. It sends the message that you were too lazy to look for a gift or that you don’t know her well enough to know what she likes. However, if your gift card is for something specific like a massage or facial, this is usually a good idea since you’re giving the gift of an experience.

#7: Bath/Beauty Supplies

Have you ever noticed that your woman’s bathroom contains a wide variety of beauty and bath supplies? That should let you know that for Valentine’s Day, she doesn’t want more lotions and body washes that she either already has or doesn’t need.

Play it safe and avoid Bath and Body Works during Valentine’s Day unless your girl asked you for a specific lotion or body wash that she otherwise wouldn’t buy for herself.

#8: Jewelry

Jewelry, like perfume, is a matter of personal preference. So, unless you are buying her something she specifically pointed out to you one day at the mall, you might want to avoid buying her jewelry for Valentine’s Day.

Hopefully, these eight ideas of things to not buy your girl for Valentine’s Day will help you know where to start when you go shopping for your woman. Not sure what to get her now? Take her out for a romantic dinner and express how much you love her at the top of a hill that looks over at the city.

THAT is a gift that has no risk whatsoever.
