A lot of experts thought that the New Guinea Highland Wild Dog had already gone extinct, so a lot of people became happy when it was spotted in remote regions on earth. The reason why this breed is widely celebrated is that this is a primitive and ancient race. It has been on earth for a long period.
There are about 100 photographs taken to showcase male, female and puppies of this said race. It has been isolated from human beings for over 50 years so last 2016; experts tried to acquire DNA to check if this is the said race that they thought already ceased to exist. It seems that these dogs are good at hiding because the most recent photograph was released in 2012.

It was James K. McIntyre who led the expedition to Papua New Guinea specifically at the Papua Province located at Western Papua New Guinea. It was in September of 2016 when they saw a paw print that resembled that of a dog’s. From then on, different trail cameras were placed in different areas. This resulted to capturing over 100 images of this breed.
The team acquired fecal samples to check on their breed, and it was a match. This is a beautiful dog breed that people would most likely want to have at home, but they naturally want to belong in the wild. This breed can come in three colors namely golden, black and tan. They have tails that are similar to a fish hook.

Although there are not a lot of details about this, some say that they can create unique vocalizations that make them sing differently from other dogs. According to some reports, 300 dogs are living in various places all over the world.
There are still a lot of researches and studies that are ongoing about this dog breed, and people are anxiously waiting for the report to be sent soon so that citizens will have a better understanding of this dog breed and their actual chance of survival. The area where they were seen is now being protected so that it can remain to be their sanctuary. Who knows, they may reproduce and breed more in the years to come.
