Auroville. It sounds like a city from a Disney film, but in reality, it is an actual place in South India. In this fairy tale land, people live without politics, religion, or money. People of different nationalities and cultures live in peace, using a system of trade to get what they need.
Auroville was founded by Mirra Alfassa, who is also known as “Mother.”

Alfassa wanted to create a place where everyone could live in harmony, and work together toward progress. It is extremely self-sufficient and gets most of its supplies from the farms of the citizens.
Though Auroville is not the only city of its kind, it is the only one that has received protection from UNESCO as an international city. No city is perfect, but the citizens of Auroville have an altogether healthier life. It is THE example of how the world could be in the future.

No one can say for sure when, or hoe, other cities will follow Auroville’s lead, but it is sure to be interesting to watch.
